The Minority Veterans Program assures
that minority veterans:
- Receive equal service regardless of race,
origin, religion, or gender
- Do not encounter barriers in their attempt to
access VA services
- Are treated with respect and dignity by VA
service providers
Minority Veterans Program Coordinators
act as mediators and facilitators, to:
- Promote the use of VA programs, benefits,
and services
- Make benefits and services more accessible
to minority veterans
- Educate veterans and their family members
about VA benefits and services in their area
- Target outreach efforts to minority veterans
through community organizations
- Evaluate current programs and make
recommendations
to VA to better serve
minority
veterans
- Support and initiate activities that educate
VA staff about the unique needs of minority
veterans
- Advocate on behalf of minority veterans
by identifying gaps in services and make
recommendations
to improve service
