Take these steps to start a rewarding career in the Air National Guard while pursuing a college degree or advancing your career.

To qualify for the Air Guard, you must be 17 to 39 years old*, a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, and have a high school diploma or a GED.

* The age limit goes above 40 for medical professionals and chaplains

After you've visited your recruiter, he or she will schedule you to take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test and physical. This will determine your potential job opportunities.

Recruits

New Enlisted

When you serve part-time in the Air National Guard, you can take charge of every aspect of your life. You'll learn critical career skills and reap valuable benefits for you and your family.

New Officer

The Air National Guard is looking for individuals who are leaders and have ambition to excel to become officers. We seek those who aspire to reach the top in both their civilian and Air Guard careers.

Age

Those interested in joining the Air Guard who have never served before must be between the ages of 17 and 40.

Written Examination

New recruits are required to pass a written examination called the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).

Strong Moral Character

Air Guard looks for new recruits to have a strong sense of pride and respectable moral character.
