What is an Immigrant Visa?

An immigrant visa is required of anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the United States.

Visa Categories

U.S. immigration law provides for the issuance of immigrant visas in four general categories:

  1. Diversity Immigrants
    (Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, also known as visa lottery or green card lottery.)
    Interview Preparation for Diversity Visa Winners

Walk-in Hours:

  • Public hours for walk-in services (for information packets, for submitting additional documentation, to pick-up the visa and for general information):

    On Monday and Wednesday from 1 PM to 4 PM
    On Tuesday from 1 PM to 3 PM
  • Services by appointment: all Immigrant and fiancé(e) visa applications are accepted only by appointment.
  • Closed on American and Hungarian holidays.

Visa Lottery

  • Through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (also known as visa lottery, or green card lottery) 50,000 immigrant visas are made available annually to natives of foreign states.
