Welcome aboard!

You are now a member of 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines - “The Professionals.” 2/1 has a long and legendary history in combat from the Dominican Republic to the island hopping campaigns of World War II, and the wars in Korea and Vietnam. More recently in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in places like Fallujah, Husaybah and Ubaydi.

This battalion’s success has always been the product of the Marines and Sailors who have served in its ranks in combat and peace. They were (and are) no different than you as you join the Battalion.

Our training and operational tempo remain high in support of the nation’s global war against terrorism. We will undoubtedly be called upon again to deploy in support of our national interests. We must remain ready to meet that challenge.

This is a legendary organization with superb Marines and Sailors. We look forward to serving along side you. The resources of the Battalion stand ready to support you, and your family, as you make Camp Horno your new duty station.
