2013 Acquisition and Small Business Excellence Award Nominations

As part of our effort to recognize federal acquisition professionals who contribute to outstanding improvements in acquisition throughout the federal government, the CAOC is seeking nominations for two separate awards:  the Acquisition Excellence Award and the Small Business Excellence Award (co-sponsored by the Small Business Procurement Advisory Council). Awards will be given to federal employees engaged in individual or team activities that led to excellent results in one of the following five award categories in FY 2012.

Acquisition Excellence Award

An award will be given to both an individual and a team.

  1. Innovation - Developed an innovative solution to an acquisition challenge and demonstrated cost savings and/or other efficiencies.
  2. Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) Excellence - Performed as an effective and successful COR who demonstrated best practices, or developed an innovative approach to leading a COR program within a federal organization.
  3. Strategic Sourcing - Achieved quantifiable contract savings and/or other efficiencies from strategic sourcing efforts.

Small Business Excellence Award

An award will be given either to an individual or a team.

  1. Small Business Acquisition Excellence: Effective Collaboration - Engaged in collaboration between their Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) and the acquisition community that led to awards that were successful from both a small business and an acquisition perspective in FY 2012.
  1. Small Business Acquisition Excellence: Implementation of White House Small Business Procurement Group “asks” as outlined in the joint OMB/OFPP and SBA Memorandum dated June 6, 2012 - Specifically, individuals or teams that maximized opportunities for small business under the simplified acquisition threshold and/or increased small business utilization under multiple award contracts by using the authority from section 1331 of the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010.

Nominations will be judged using a two-step process:

Step 1: The nominations will be judged by a panel of experts.

Step 2: Nominators of the top 3 submissions for each award will be contacted to provide more detailed information for the final judging, which will be done by a panel of executives.

Acquisition Excellence Award: A $3,000 award will accompany the individual recognition and a $3,000 award to be split equally among team members will accompany the team recognition.

Small Business Excellence Award: A $3,000 award will accompany the recognition, either to be given to an individual or split equally among team members.

The awards will be presented at “Acquisition Excellence 2013″ in Washington, D.C. on March 21, 2013.
