Sen. Landrieu Announces $24M DOT Grant for Highway Repairs
WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today announced a $24 million U.S. Department of Transportation grant to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for repairs to Federal-aid highways damaged by Hurricane Isaac. The funds are provided by the Federal Highway Administration Emergency Relief program.
"In the wake of a storm, not only are homes and businesses affected, but our critical infrastructure receives a significant amount of damage and wear, " Sen. Landrieu said. "Our highways are critical to keep commerce flowing and today's grant is terrific news for our parishes in Louisiana that are working hard to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Isaac."
Eligible repair work includes emergency repairs needed to restore essential traffic, minimize the extent of damage or protect the remaining facilities as well as permanent repairs necessary to restore the highway to its pre-disaster condition.
