NWRC Geographer Presents at National Conference on Geographic Education: USGS National Wetlands Research Center Geographer Larry Handley co-presented a 50-minute session on "Savannah, Georgia: Spatial Correlation of a Map and Aerial Photo" at the 2010 National Conference on Geographic Education in Savannah, Ga. on October 2, 2010. NWRC Scientist To Present Keynote Speech at Cache River Symposium: USGS National Wetlands Research Center scientist Beth Middleton will present the keynote speech at the Cache River Symposium on October 12, 2010, in Vienna, Ill. The symposium is being organized by the Cypress Creek Joint Venture (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Illinois Department of Conservation) and Southern Illinois University. USGS National Wetlands Research Center contractor Heather Baldwin was contacted this week by Chris Duke, a writer for Birder's World Magazine. He is writing an article about Ammodramus sparrows and wanted to ask her questions about how to help recreational birders locate and see Ammodramus sparrows more often. He is specifically interested in tips for Ammodramus microhabitat, habits and behavior, and species-specific tips that would allow recreational birders to enjoy these birds.
