NWRC Scientist on Special Assignment with the Chinese Academy of Science: USGS National Wetlands Research Center Research Ecologist Beth Middleton will address the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agriculture of the Chinese Academy of Science on April 8, 2010. Her presentation is entitled “Climate change and flood pulsing in wetlands.” She is currently on special assignment with the Key Laboratory of Wetland Ecology in Changchun, China. NWRC Branch Chief To Participate in the Gulf Coast Joint Venture Spring Board Meeting: USGS National Wetlands Research Center Branch Chief Thomas Doyle will participate in the annual spring board meeting of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Gulf Coast Joint Venture at Katy Prairie Conservancy Sand Hill Farm, Waller, Texas, April 13 – 14, 2010. St. Genevieve 4-H Club To Tour NWRC: The 4-H Club of St. Genevieve Middle School from Lafayette, La., will visit the USGS National Wetlands Research Center on April 14, 2010. The group of sixth, seventh and eighth graders will view a presentation about Louisiana’s wetlands, the Center and its research and then tour the facility to see scientists at work and to learn more about NWRC research. NWRC Branch Chief Participates in Louisiana/Mississippi Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Workshop: USGS National Wetlands Research Center Branch Chief Thomas Doyle participated in an interagency workshop held in New Orleans on April 6 – 7, 2010, to develop a “Gulf Coast Roadmap” for augmenting State and Federal efforts in restoring ecosystem resiliency and sustainability of Louisiana and Mississippi coastal wetlands.
