National Conservation Training Center

Computer Lab Information

The National Conservation Training Center maintains 3 computer labs for training. All computer workstations are networked to 2 IBM x3650 Servers (Microsoft Windows 2008 Server operating system). A shared network drive is available in all computer labs. Classes on the Internet are taught on a regular basis on these computers, so all computers are "Internet Ready". The servers, and all classroom computers have connectivity to the Service Wide Area Network (SWAN). The connection can be switched to a Comcast Business class connection upon request.

G24 Computer Lab

This lab is equipped with 25 individual computer workstations (1 instructor terminal, 24 student workstations). The workstations have Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 4 gigabytes of RAM, 160-gigabyte hard disks, and are equipped with DVD/CD-RW and DVD-RW drives. Two printers (1 color laser printer and 1 black laser printer) are located in the classroom, and available to all computers. Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 is the primary desktop computer operating system.

The Lab is located in the Instructional East building, Ground floor, Room G24IE.

109IE Computer Lab

Comprised of 21 individual computer workstations (1 instructor terminal, 20 student workstations). The workstations have Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 4 gigabytes of RAM, 160-gigabyte hard disks and are equipped with DVD/CD-RW and DVD-RW drives. Two printers (1 color laser printer, 1 black and white laser) are located in the classroom, and available to all computers. Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 is the primary desktop computer operating system.

The Lab is located in the Instructional East building, First Floor, Room 109IE.

G30IE Computer Lab
(Geographic Information Systems - GIS Lab)

The GIS lab is equipped with 21 computer workstations (1 instructor terminal, 18 student workstations, and 2 additional workstations in the back of the room) The workstations have Intel Xeon processors, 4 gigabytes of RAM, 160-gigabyte hard drives, and are equipped with DVD/CD-RW and DVD-RW drives. Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 is the primary desktop computer operating system. Two printers (1 color laser printer capable of 12x18 printing, 1 black and white laser) are located in the classroom, and available to all computers. There is also a plotter attached to one of the back workstations available to students with instructor supervision. ArcInfo 10 sp2 software is available for each workstation.

The Lab is located in the Instructional East building, Ground floor, Room G30IE.

Software available on each computer in both labs:

  • Microsoft Office 2010 Professional (Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Access 2010)

  • Internet Explorer 9

  • Adobe Reader X

  • JAVA

  • Vision Classroom Management software - this software is available in each lab and allows each instructor computer to view all student computers at once. It also facilitates a demo of the instructor screen on each student computer and remote control of one student computer at a time.

Additional software provided by the customer can also be loaded on each computer:

  • Software provided by the customer must be sent to the Lab Manager no later than 1 week prior to the start of class for virus and compatibility testing.
