Awards

Blaine has been named the first vice president of the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association, furthering his ability to serve as a critical voice for Missouri’s river communities on national issues including flood control, bank stabilization, navigation and major drainage problems. The Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association is made up of levee and drainage districts, harbor and port commissions, states, cities and towns and other agencies and individuals from Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Blaine has been recognized for his efforts in Congress on behalf of businesses that create jobs and spur economic growth. A few of his awards include: the Spirit of Enterprise award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Guardian of Small Business award from the National Federation of Independent Business. Additionally, the Club for Growth presented Blaine with the “Defender of Economic Freedom Award” for his support of free enterprise and free markets.

The Council for Citizens against Government Waste named Blaine a Taxpayer Hero for his work during the first session of the 111th Congress to protect the taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars. The National Tax Limitation Committee awarded Blaine in the 112th Congress the Tax Fighter Award for “being a consistent fiscal conservative and friend of the taxpayer.”

Additionally, Blaine received the ‘Friend of Farm Bureau’ honor from the American Farm Bureau federation for his efforts on behalf of hard-working American farm families. Blaine also received the award in 2010 for his work in the last Congress. Blaine was recognized by the Agricultural Retailers Association as ARA’s Legislator of the Year for his commitment to agriculture and leadership in this area.

Blaine has also been recognized for his efforts on behalf of rural children’s educational needs and was selected as the Save the Children’s Congressional Champion for Real and Lasting Change award in 2010. Save the Children is the leading independent organization dedicated to creating real and lasting change in the lives of children in need in the U.S. and around the world.
