Susan Macharia is a Research Administrative Assistant in the Diversity Training Branch (DTB) within the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). In this role, she handles data entry of diversity applications and supplements and provides administrative support to the DTB Program Director. Prior to this position, she managed data entry of grants and supplements for CRCHD's Performance and Evaluation Core. In addition, she assists with various administrative tasks and provides front desk support.
Before coming to CRCHD, Ms. Macharia worked at NOVA Research Company in Bethesda, Maryland, as an Administrative Meeting Assistant under the direction of NOVA's Conference Manager. She was responsible for maintaining meeting databases, as well as providing onsite, and pre- and post-meeting assistance for a variety of conferences managed by NOVA for NCI and other National Institutes of Health divisions.
Ms. Macharia obtained her administrative skills training at Cambridge Secretarial College in Nairobi, Kenya, and at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. In addition, she pursued her computer skills training at Computer Training Centre in Nairobi and her Sales and Marketing Diploma at Compuera College (the Institute of Commercial Management – England) in Nairobi.
