NIH Suggested Proficiency Map
The suggested Proficiency Map is provided as a guide for selecting the appropriate proficiency level from GS-1 through GS-15. Employees and supervisors have the flexibility to select proficiency levels that are appropriate for a position. Every position is unique and the level of proficiency required in certain competencies may vary between positions.

N/A - Not Applicable, 1 - Fundamental Awareness, 2 - Novice, 3 - Intermediate, 4 - Advanced, 5 - Expert
