Podiatry

It is our pleasure to treat all foot and ankle complaints and pathology in the largest podiatry clinic in the United States Air Force and DoD. Our three board-certified foot and ankle surgeons are well-trained in complete comprehensive conservative and reconstructive surgical care of all foot and ankle problems ranging from digital deformities, hallux valgus, and hallux rigidus to sports medicine injuries, tendon pathology, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, and chronic ankle pain and instability. The mission of Podiatry Services, 59th MDW is to provide comprehensive foot and ankle care to active- duty military, dependents, and retirees in support of both military readiness and an active healthy lifestyle. We treat a patient population base of ten DoD facilities, 200,000 local beneficiaries, and 67,000 trainees annually. We welcome all active duty referrals and consults and can provide telemedicine support upon request.

Hand

Our physicians are Board-certified, fellowship-trained hand and microvascular surgeons. Patients with problems involving their shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands comprise the majority of referrals. Special problems in the upper extremity to include congenital defects, rheumatoid arthritis and Dupuytren's disease also fall into our physician's area. Their practice includes shoulder and elbow joint replacement as well. Free tissue transfers for a variety of traumatic or acquired injury round out their surgical practice. Referrals consist primarily of disorders of the upper extremities.

Physical Medicine

Our physician's clinical expertise is predominantly in diagnostic and therapeutic spine injections within the context of a rehabilitation program. He also provides electrodiagnostic evaluations and some pain management for orthopaedic patients.

Sports Medicine

As fellowship trained sports medicine physicians, our surgeon takes care of a variety of sports-related injuries. They are very experienced with knee ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL, PLC, articular cartilage and meniscal injury treatment to include revision surgery and transplantation. Their shoulder expertise includes instability, tendon injury, cuff tears, SLAP tears and many other problems, including revision. They are familiar with arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow and other joints.

The following clinics have moved to Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft Sam Houston. Wilford Hall general orthopedists and physician assistants can make referrals to these subspecialties, but they are not available at Wilford Hall.

Musculoskeletal Oncology
