The U.S. Center in Copenhagen is pleased to feature Science On a Sphere ® (SOS) throughout COP-15. SOS is a large, visually compelling, computer-driven globe that displays animated images of the Earth’s land, oceans, and atmosphere. Through a combination of Earth system animations and narratives, SOS will highlight U.S. contributions to advancing scientific understanding of Earth’s dynamic climate system.

Science On a Sphere delivers a powerful, four-dimensional learning experience. SOS will run during conference hours throughout the two weeks of COP-15 in the following modes:

  1. Interactive, scientist-led presentations on a variety of cutting-edge Earth science topics.

  2. A playlist of feature “movies in the round” exploring different aspects of climate science, including the following productions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the Department of Energy: “Blue Planet,” “Frozen,” “Coral Science from Outer Space to Inner Space,” and “Energy Planet.”

  3. Casual question-and-answer sessions in which visitors can interact with science experts and take tours of our home planet—like they’ve never seen it before!
