USAID Deputy Administrator Steinberg Travels to Dublin
Donald Steinberg, deputy administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) was in Dublin from February 11-13, 2013. Mr. Steinberg’s visit surrounded meetings with EU Development Ministers as part of Ireland's Presidency of the EU. He held a bilateral meeting with Irish Minister for Development and Trade Joe Costello. Mr. Steinburg also delivered a lecture at Trinity College Dublin entitled “Youth in Development: Realizing the Demographic Opportunity.” »

Embassy Staff Volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Crumlin
On Sunday, January 27 2013, U.S. Embassy staff and family members volunteered at the Ronald McDonald house in Crumlin. The Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation and a caring and supportive environment for families whose children are seriously ill and are hospitalised or undergoing medical treatment at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. Through the donations raised by the US Customs and Border Protection Branch in Shannon and the US Embassy, staff prepared breakfast and dinner for approximately 40 people. »

Deputy Assistant Secretary Paula Schriefer visits Dublin
Paula Schriefer, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the Bureau of International Organization Affairs visited Dublin on January 24, 2013. As well as meeting with government officials, Ms. Schriefer spoke to students at Saint Patrick's College in Dublin 9. Prior to assuming this position, Ms Schriefer was vice president for global programs at Freedom House, where she oversaw Freedom House's global activities on freedom of expression, internet freedom, religious freedom, and advocacy efforts at the United Nations. »
