March 2012 - JTF-North deploys Soldiers to support Border Patrol in N.M., Ariz.

Active-duty Soldiers from Fort Hood and Fort Bliss deployed in mid-February to southern New Mexico and southern Arizona to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection border security efforts.

Colonel Stammer promoted to BG

At a special promotion ceremony held Friday at the Fort Bliss and Old Ironsides Museum, Col. Mark R. Stammer, Joint Task Force North Commander, was promoted to the rank of brigadier general.

8 November 11 - JTF North welcomes Badgett as new senior-enlisted leader

Air Force Command Chief Master Sgt. Dwight D. Badgett accepted the Joint Task Force North senior-enlisted leader duties during an assumption of responsibility ceremony at the command's headquarters Nov. 8.

20 October 11 - Vietnam Veteran presented award

More than 40 years ago a young Navy reservist from El Paso, a single son who qualified for the 'sole surviving son exemption' from combat service, volunteered for deployment when his unit was activated in 1968.

9 September 11 - JTF North Change of Command Ceremony

Brig. Gen. Michael A. Bills relinquished command of Joint Task Force North to Col. Mark R. Stammer during a change of command ceremony conducted Sept. 9 at the task force’s headquarters at East Fort Bliss.

2 May 11 - GSP 2nd Intel Bn USMC

Marines from Ground Sensor Platoon (GSP), 2nd Intelligence Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force, completed a training mission last month that is credited with making a significant contribution to the U.S. Border Patrol's efforts to detect, deter, and defeat transnational criminal organizations' attempts to conduct drug and alien smuggling activities on the U.S. – Mexico border.

Detecting and responding to low flying aircraft used by transnational criminal organizations to transport illicit drugs across the U.S. – Mexico border is critical to the accomplishment of the U.S. Border Patrol, Tucson Sector's homeland security mission.

1-13 Cav. Regt. supports Border Patrol in Arizona

Equipped with the latest surveillance technology in the Army’s inventory, the 1st Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, historically known as the “Warhorse” Squadron, recently completed training in Arizona that also supported the U.S. Border Patrol’s efforts to detect, deter and defeat transnational criminal organizations attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command commander, Navy Adm. James Winnefeld, visited Joint Task Force North, the USNORTHCOM element tasked with providing Department of Defense counter-transnational threat support to the nation’s federal law enforcement agencies, March 3.

JTF North, based at Fort Bliss, Texas, is the Department of Defense (DOD) organization tasked to support federal law enforcement agencies in identifying and interdicting suspected narcotics-related traffickers and other transnational threats.
