There are many reasons why American companies find the Cypriot market attractive, beginning with its strategic location, whether as part of a comprehensive European export strategy or as a bridge to markets in the Middle East and Africa.    The island's favorable tax regime, strong services sector, and great shipping facilities all help businesses meet their goals.  We definitely see room for growth in Cyprus, especially in critical sectors such as energy and financial services.

Our Commercial Office represents the Department of Commerce (DOC) through its Athens, Greece Partner Post and is therefore, part of a network of offices across the United States and in more than 80 countries that work directly to support U.S. exports.  The U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration utilizes this global network of trade specialists to connect U.S companies with international buyers worldwide.   In this capacity, our Commercial Office offers all DOC services to interested U.S. companies (http://cyprus.usembassy.gov/companyservices.html).

If you just look at the numbers, the Cyprus – U.S. trade relationship looks small but if you look at the bigger picture, there's a lot more going on than first meets the eye.  I look forward to welcoming more U.S. companies to Cyprus.
