Public Affairs Officer Jeffrey Hill represented Consul General Ned Alford at a Bond reading featuring Jeffery Deaver, the American behind 007, at the English Theatre Frankfurt on March 12.  It was an evening of mystery, intrigue, and cocktails - shaken, not stirred - as the international number-one bestselling American author entertained the audience with excerpts of his James Bond novel Carte Blanche.  Daniel Craig himself could not make it, but his German voice, actor Dietmar Wunder, made the reading from the German translation published by Blanvalet as authentic as it could get.  Carte Blanche is a reboot of the literary series, placing Bond in a post-9/11 world with contemporary challenges. In the Q&A after the reading that was moderated by NDR journalist Margarete von Schwarzkopf, the audience learned about Deaver’s inspiration for the exotic locations in the novel, the humanity of the villains, and the status of Deaver’s other series. Afterwards, guests mingled at the Theatre’s “James the Bar” and chatted with Deaver and Wunder, who happily gave autographs and signed copies of Carte Blanche. Photos
