Robert G Hale, COL, completed undergraduate studies at UCLA 1977 and earned his Doctoral 1981 and Postdoctoral Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 1989 at Emory University. He is Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (1992, 2002, 2012) and Fellow, International College of Dentists, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

COL Hale was commissioned US Army Reserves in 1977. His active service includes tours in Kuwait and Afghanistan 2003-2004. In 2005, COL Hale retired from private practice in Los Angeles to serve in Active Component of the US Army. He is Commander, US Army Dental and Trauma Research Detachment, Director of Craniomaxillofacial Research at the US Army Institute of Surgical Research (ISR) in San Antonio, ISR’s Representative to the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine and Consultant to the Surgeon General for Dental Research.

COL Hale is published in numerous professional journals and has lectured extensively on craniomaxillofacial battle-injuries and regenerative medicine. He holds a teaching appointment at UCLA School of Dentistry since 1990. He is Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Postgraduate Dental School, Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons honored COL Hale with the prestigious Humanitarian Award in 2009.

COL Hale’s military awards include two Bronze Star Medals, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 20 year Hourglass Device and Expert Field Medical Badge. He holds the “A” Proficiency Designator from the Surgeon General to recognize professional expertise, leadership, and academic achievements; he is recipient of the Order of Military Medical Merit.
