Diversity Visas

Diversity Visa Lottery

The Congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program makes available 50,000 permanent resident visas annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

Full instructions on past programs can be found at the official State Department website at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/

U. S. Embassy Tunis is pleased to announce that the online registration period for the 2013 Diversity Visa Program (DV-2013) will begin at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/
on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), and conclude on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4).

A successfully registered entry will result in a confirmation screen containing your name and a unique confirmation number.  On May 1, 2012, you will be able to check the status of your DV-2013 entry by visiting http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ and entering your confirmation number in to the Entrant Status Check function.  An Entrant Status Check is the ONLY way the U.S. Department of State informs participants of their selection for DV-2013.  Moreover, the U.S. Department of State will not send lottery DV-2013 winners confirmation e-mails or letters by regular mail. Be advised that any e-mail or letter claiming to confirm selection is a scam designed to extract payment.

Beware of fraudulent Web sites posing as official U.S. Government websites.  In the past, there have been instances of individuals who falsely sought money in order to "complete" DV entry forms.  There is no charge to download and complete the Electronic Diversity Visa Entry Form.  In addition, the U.S. Government does not collect any program fees until the day a DV winner appears at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate for the visa interview.  To learn more, see the Department of State Warning and the Federal Trade Commission Warning
