The Consular Section at the American Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka handles all matters related to American Citizen Services in the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
The Embassy in Colombo is open to provide Americans with routine services on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-4pm. An appointment is not necessary. Unfortunately, there are limitations to what the Embassy can do. We cannot help Americans find employment, obtain visas, settle disputes with tour operators, or find missing luggage.

American Citizens Services:
- Routine Services - Monday & Wednesday, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
- Emergency Services (by appointment only) - Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 noon*
Visa Services:
- Non-immigrant Visas - (by appointment only) Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 noon
- Immigrant & Diversity Visas - Tuesday & Thursday, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
