Deputy Chief of Mission Marc L. Desjardins

Marc L. Desjardins arrived as Deputy Chief of Mission of the American Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on June 28, 2012. Previously he served as the Director of the Office of United Nations Political Affairs in the U.S. Department of State and Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia. He has also served as the Political Counselor at the American Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia and Consul General in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Desjardins has also served in Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Karachi, Pakistan; Bucharest, Romania and Kingston, Jamaica. In Washington, he has been Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs and Country Officer for Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Desjardins is married to Huma Desjardins, who is assigned to the American Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They have a daughter and a son.
