On Jan. 18 a U-2 carrying an IRIS camera took detailed pictures of the damage. The following day another U-2 with an F-489 camera aboard provided the broad area coverage. Technicians from the 9th Intelligence Squadron then processed the film, working around the clock to have the photographs in the hands of FEMA officials within 24 hours. FEMA then asked the wing to fly another F-489 and two ASARS sorties over the area.
