Colonel Chris "Boots" Coffelt is the Commander of the
90th Missile Wing, Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo. He provides strategic nuclear deterrence through the operation, maintenance, security and support by over 4,200 military, civilian and contractor personnel operating 15 missile alert facilities and 150 Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles constantly ready to launch at the direction of the President of the United States.

Colonel Coffelt received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Colorado in 1989 and entered the active duty Air Force in 1990. Since then, he has served in a variety of space and missile operations, staff, and leadership assignments.

As a space operator, he commanded mission control teams for launch, early-orbit, and on-orbit operations for communication and missile warning satellites, Inertial Upper Stage booster spacecraft, and Space Shuttle support operations. His missile operations experience includes combat mission ready certification in the Peacekeeper and Minuteman III ICBM weapon systems and duty as a flight commander/instructor, chief of wing combat crew training, and commander of the 321st Missile Squadron. His staff assignments include duties on the Secretary of Defense's Bosnia Task Force, the Air Staff, and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Most recently, he served as vice wing commander of the 91st Missile Wing, Minot Air Force Base, N.D.
