U.S. Embassy Athens consists of several different sections that can be contacted through the main switchboard.  These include:

The Political Section observes, analyzes and reports on political and political-military developments in Greece.  The Section works to increase bilateral cooperation across a broad range of issues, including political-military relations, human rights, and law enforcement coordination.

The Economic Section analyzes and reports on developments in the Greek economy.  It advances U.S. Policy in areas including civil aviation, maritime affairs, environmental issues, intellectual property rights, regional energy policy and infrastructure, and science/technology affairs.

The Consular Section provides a full range of consular services to the American citizen community in Greece, as well as visa services to Greek and third-country nationals, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visas.

The Public Affairs Section works to strengthen the bilateral U.S.-Greece relationship through a variety of media, cultural and exchange activities.  It consists of the Press Office, the Cultural Office, and the Information Resource Center.

The Foreign Commercial Service assists U.S. companies interested in doing business in Greece or Greek companies interested in sourcing American products or services. Their BuyUSA website is available in English or Greek.

The Office of Defense Cooperation-Greece advances the mutual defense interests of the United States and the Hellenic Republic through the administration of an aggressive security assistance program.
