The Interview
 

Applicants aged 14 - 79 are required to appear in person for an interview with a consular officer through a pre-booked appointment.  The appointment must be scheduled through our online booking system, unless you meet the criteria’s for an emergency appointment.

You will need to bring all required documents in order to be allowed to enter the embassy. Please see our Checklist to make sure you have all required documents before your interview.

Access to the Embassy

Only applicants with a scheduled appointment will be admitted into the Embassy. The exceptions are children under the age of 18 accompanied by a parent, translators and assistants for the disabled. If you require an assistant or a translator for your interview, please inform us by sending an e-mail to oslovisa@state.gov with your name, date of appointment and name of assistant or translator. Please also inform us of the reason why an assistant or translator is required.

The Interview

You will normally be required to meet up at the line outside the embassy before you can enter the Visa Section.

Please be prepared to spend several hours at the embassy - including outdoor wait time - during your visa application process. The fewer items you bring to the Embassy the more quickly the security check-in goes for everyone.

Storage of luggage, backpacks, suitcases, shopping bags, handbags or items over 28 x 19 x 14 cm (12" x 8" x 6") is not permitted at the Embassy, nor may you enter the Embassy with these items, so bring with you only what you need for your appointment.  No electronic devices are permitted inside the Embassy.

Please see the Cashier when you enter the Visa Section in order to submit your documents. Please provide the Cashier with all required documents as described in our Checklist. The Cashier will give you a number for your interview with the Visa Officer.

When you have your interview, a set of your fingerprints will be electronically scanned. If you have a cut or blister that mars the prints on any of your fingers or thumbs, your application cannot be processed. You will be required to reschedule an appointment for a later date.

At the end of your interview, the Visa Officer will inform you if your application has been approved or not, or if it needs to go through additional administrative processing.

Passports will be returned by mailafter the visa process has been completed.
