Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) Information
All U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Suriname are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Enrollment does not require a visit to the Embassy, but can be easily accomplished via the internet before a journey begins. To sign-up please visit the STEP webpage. The STEP system allows the U.S. Embassy to inform U.S. citizens about items of interest, both routine and emergency, that may be of interest to you. By enrolling with STEP, you will receive these messages before and during your trip, regardless of how long you are traveling. In accordance with the Privacy Act, information on your welfare or whereabouts may not be released to inquirers without your expressed written authorizations. Registration through the website is not considered proof of citizenship. Remember to leave a detailed itinerary and the numbers or copies of your passport or other citizenship documents with a friend or relative in the United States.
