Cultural Exchange

Cultural activities are specifically programmed to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries of the world.  These programs also underscore the respect that the U.S. holds for the achievements of other nations.  The American artists who participate in the programs enrich their work through exposure to other cultures, while Swazi and other foreign audiences are equally influenced by the freedom of expression that the American artists exhibit.

The cultural programs promote the role of culture in economic development and in democracy building.  The programs use the arts to promote greater awareness of social issues such as HIV/AIDS, cultural preservation, the role of women in society, human rights and environmental protection.
