The Regional English Language Office (RELO), part of the Public Affairs section of the United State Embassy in Astana, supports public diplomacy outreach through English language teaching and training in the five Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan.
The Regional English Language Office cooperates with Ministries of Education, teachers’ associations, universities, schools and English language teaching (ELT) professionals on a variety of educational and cultural exchange programs and projects in order to enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of Central Asia and the United States.
RELO Central Asia and KazTEA are proud to recognize Tatyana Koroleva as Kazakhstani Teacher of January 2013 !
Teaching English for Tatyana Koroleva is a life-long adventure. She started teaching at the Astana Agrarian University more than 35 years ago. In 1992 she became chairman of the university’s Foreign Relations Department and took part in many interesting projects dealing with students exchange programs and collaboration with foreign professors and organizations. As a result of her international contacts, she realized that a good teacher of English should be a bridge between people from different countries and cultures.
Now she is a deputy general director at the college, where she continues to teach. She has developed a special course for future interpreters. Nearly ten of her books have been published by “Foliant” Publishers, Astana.
She likes to share her expertise with younger teachers through seminars at the English Teachers’ Organization of Astana. The college hosts the Resource Center of English Language Teaching, which provides materials free of charge and offers many other services for both students and teachers.
She inspires her colleagues and students to use new and creative methods of teaching and tries to introduce them in her class as well. Her presentation, attached, with comments, to this page, may be of some interest to teachers of English and may be reproduced and used at schools, colleges, or universities, provided credit is given to Tatyana Koroleva.
We are proud of Tatyana’s commitment and thankful for her contribution to our community of English-language teaching here in Kazakhstan. Congratulations, Tatyana!
