The TIPS program has forged productive working relationships with numerous groups over the past 15 years. Organizations such as NAAMLP, WIEB and IMCC jointly sponsor conferences and forums on important SMCRA topics each year to keep state, tribal, and OSM staff up to date on the latest information and technology in their fields.

For example, NAAMLP, WIEB, IMCC, and NTTP joined TIPS in sponsoring the second geospatial conference "Incorporating Geospatial Technologies into SMCRA Business Processes" in 2008. The conference was a large success, due to participation from SMCRA personnel, the coal industry, and software and hardware vendors. Representatives from various organizations continue to bring new and innovative concepts to OSM with respect to application of recent technological advancements. Partnerships with our affiliates are just one way TIPS is able to successfully reach the SMCRA community.

National Association of Abandoned Mine Lands Programs (NAAMLP) is a nationwide organization with representatives from every coal producing state. The Interstate Mining Compact Commission (IMCC) is a nationwide organization encompassing all types of mining by providing a forum for communication between Regulatory and effective recovery of each member state’s mineral resource. The Western Interstate Energy Board (WIEB) is a conglomeration of 12 western States and 3 Canadian Provinces that oversees the energy industry in the western regions of North America.
