To the Families of Headquarters and Services Company,

Welcome to 1st Tank Battalion, H & S Company! The Senior Staff wants to make sure that every Marine and family member arriving for duty is properly joined to the team and aware of our mission.  Further, we want each family member to be aware of local, regional and Marine Corps' resources available to you prior to arriving to the Marine Air Ground Combat Center (MAGCC).  First Sergeant West and I want to express the unique challenges and rewards of serving on board the Combat Center.  The Battalion is located on Seventh Street with the company offices located directly behind.

For some of our Marines, Southern California is home, and for others, reporting for duty is like entering unfamiliar territory with a new mission.  We want to reassure each Marine and family member that our mission remains the same as any other battalion in the Marine Corps, and you are joining a Battalion with a storied lineage of war fighting accomplishments.

To our families, although we remain in somewhat of a remote location, our Family Readiness Program is up and operational.  The H & S Company Staff and our Family Readiness Officer (FRO) will provide every family member with assistance and direction to Joint, Civilian, and Marine Corps resources available in our local areas and on-line.  We understand that our collective unit readiness begins with the support of each family member.  We also understand that living away from immediate family can bring unique challenges, and the key to family readiness is effective communication with our Command Family Readiness Team. To our benefit, our deployment cycle is somewhat predictable; however, our normal training periods are unique with some working weekends.  Our training cycle is set for the company to balance mission requirements with needed time at home.  In the end, the companies continued success is completely dependent on the readiness of our Marines through the support to and from our families.
