1st Marine Division

Current Day

Consisting of approximately 50 Marine musicians, the mission of the 1st Marine Division Band is to provide musical support to the 1st Marine Division as well as other tenant commands aboard Camp Pendleton, the surrounding community, and throughout the United States. The band fulfills its numerous musical requirements by performing as a military marching band, concert band, and jazz band. It also has the capabilities to perform in smaller ensembles such as a jazz combo, party band, woodwind quintet, brass quintet, and saxophone quartet. Overall, the band appears in over 400 performances annually.

Past highlights of band performances include: the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, in Salt Lake City, the State Funeral for President Ford, the Tournament of Roses Parade, annual performances at the Center for the Performing arts, in Escondido, California, the Swallow’s Day Parade in San Juan Capistrano and most recently the Disney Magic Music Days in Downtown Disney, and the 2007 San Francisco Fleet Week.

All Marine Corps Bands fulfill the objective of preserving the values that comprise the unique and fundamental national strength and character of the United States. Whether performing music or serving in a combat zone, the 1st Marine Division Band carries on this esteemed tradition and remains the “Pride of the Division.”
