Prasanjit Dash photoA specialist in the terrestrial infrared data for sea surface temperature (SST) and land surface temperature (LST) retrievals, with a PhD in Physics from the University of Karlsruhe / Forschungszentrum Karlrsuhe, (FZK) Germany, Dr. Dash is a CIRA visiting scientist at NOAA NESDIS. He earned his PhD in "Land surface emissivity and temperature retrievals" while working at the FZK and also worked as a project scientist and EUMETSAT visiting scientist, prior to joining NOAA NESDIS.


Research Interests

  • Sea Surface Temperature estimation
  • Radiative transfer modeling in TIR and validation
  • SST Quality Monitor (developing and implementing automated statistical tools)
  • Information content analysis in window channels and study noise effects
  • Spectral Response Function shift analysis
