Master Sergeant Mildred E. McIntyre was born and raised in Harlem, NY. She enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1992 and underwent recruit training at 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Oscar Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.
In August 1992, Private McIntyre attended and completed the Basic Food Service Specialists School at Camp Johnson, N.C. , and was ordered to report to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, GA for duty as an entry level Food Service Specialists.
Lance Corporal McIntyre was transferred in March 1995 to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Marine Wing Support Group 17, Iwakuni, Japan for duty. While assigned to the unit, she held several billets in support of food service operations to include, Assistant Chief Cook, NCOIC of Subsistence, and Chief Messman.
In June 1997, Sergeant McIntyre received orders to Headquarters Service Battalion, 2nd Force Service Support Group, where she assumed the responsibilities as the 2nd Force Service Support Group, Food Service Office Administrative and Logistics Chief.
In April 1998 Sergeant McIntyre received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC. Upon completion of Drill Instructor School, she was assigned to 4th Recruit Training Battalion serving as Battalion Training Chief, Drill Instructor, Battalion Color Sergeant, and Senior Drill Instructor.
In April 2001, Staff Sergeant McIntyre was assigned to Marine Corps Food Service School, Marine Corps Detachment, United States Army Quartermasters School of Excellence, Fort Lee, VA as a Food Service Platform Instructor to entry level and Non Commission Officers. While assigned as an instructor at the school, SSgt McIntyre achieved the distinction as Master Instructor.
In May 2003, Staff Sergeant McIntyre transferred to Weapons Training Battalion, Quantico, VA assigned as the Battalion S-4 Chief. Staff Sergeant McIntyre was also selected as the Battalion Drill Master and additionally served as a summer augment at Officer Candidate School as an instructor.
In August 2006, Gunnery Sergeant McIntyre was selected to participate in the Staff Non Commission Officer Degree Completion Program, completing the requirements for a Bachelors of Professional Studies Degree in Accounting at the University of Mary Washington, in Fredericksburg, VA.
After completing her degree, Gunnery Sergeant McIntyre, was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa Japan serving as the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing Ground Safety Manager. Master Sergeant McIntyre was awarded the General Jones Safety Professional of the Year Award 2009.
In 2011 Master Sergeant McIntyre was selected to become Commandant of the Marine Corps, Safety Division, Senior Enlisted Advisor.
Master Sergeant’s personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold one star, and Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
