Sergeant Major
Trevor V. Jackson

Sergeant Major Trevor V. Jackson was born on 14 March 1966, in Dallas, Texas. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 12 March 1986, and attended Marine Corps Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif.  Upon graduation from recruit training, Private Jackson was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class and was assigned MOS 0811, Basic Field Artillery Man and attended the Marine Cannon Crewman Course at Fort Sill, Okla., where he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal on 2 September 1986. 

In September 1986, Lance Corporal Jackson was transferred to 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, where he served as a gun crewman for M198 towed-howitzers and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal on 2 March 1988.  In June 1989, Corporal Jackson made a lateral move to Aircraft Maintenance Data Analyst. In September 1989, Corporal Jackson was transferred to VMA (AW) 242 aboard MCAS El Toro, Calif., where he served as the Maintenance Analyst for the A-6E Intruder and later transitioned to F/A-18D Hornets.  Corporal Jackson was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 2 May 1990.

In January 1992, Sergeant Jackson requested and received orders to Drill Instructor School.  In June 1992, he attended Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif., and upon graduation was assigned to 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Company D, where he served as Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor for eight recruit-training platoons until December 1994.  Sergeant Jackson was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 1 November 1994.  In December 1994, Staff Sergeant Jackson transferred to the Marine Aviation Detachment, Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River., where he served as Maintenance Analyst for the MV-22 Tilt Rotor Helicopter and Marine Aviation Detachment Career Planner. 

In July 1997, Staff Sergeant Jackson was transferred to MCAS El Toro, where he was assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 268 as the Squadron Maintenance Administration Chief.  Staff Sergeant Jackson was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on 1 December 1998.  Gunnery Sergeant Jackson was BRAC relocated to MCAS Camp Pendleton, Calif., with HMM-268 in February 1999.  In December 2001, Gunnery Sergeant Jackson was transferred to the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39, Camp Pendleton, Calif., and served as the Marine Aircraft Group 39 Maintenance Administration Chief.  While assigned to MAG-39, Gunnery Sergeant Jackson deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of OIF I.  During his tour with MALS-39, Gunnery Sergeant Jackson was selected and promoted to the rank of First Sergeant on 1 May 2003.

Upon returning from OIF I, First Sergeant Jackson received orders to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 38, MCAS Miramar, Calif., as the Company A First Sergeant and returned to OIF to join his Company in Kuwait and southern Iraq.  In January 2004, First Sergeant Jackson transferred to 2d Battalion, 5th Marines, and was assigned as the Golf Company First Sergeant.  He deployed to OIF II in August 2004.  Upon his return from OIF II, he assumed the duties as the 2d Battalion, 5th Marines, Headquarters & Service Company First Sergeant, where he served until October 2005.  In October 2005, First Sergeant Jackson was transferred to 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion and was assigned as the Company E First Sergeant.  In November 2005, First Sergeant Jackson was selected and frocked to the rank of Sergeant Major and assumed the billet as Battalion Sergeant Major for 2d Battalion, 11th Marines, from December 2005 to April 2007.

In April 2007, Sergeant Major Jackson was transferred to Eastern Recruiting Region, Sixth Marine Corps District and served as the Recruiting Station Atlanta Sergeant Major until April 2010.   In April 2010, Sergeant Major Jackson was transferred to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and served as the Weapons and Field Training Battalion Sergeant Major until April 2012.

Sergeant Major Jackson assumed his present post as Sergeant Major, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing on 1 May 2012.

Sergeant Major Jackson is decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of 3rd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of 4th award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of 4th award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
