CABLE DATABASE HUB
MI & TEV Web Interface         Cable Installation approval and Cable Request Form / Label Assistance

Hub-Introduction | Cable Databases

PURPOSE:

  • The Database Hub provides a convenient means for viewing the contents of all the Cable Databases and their auxiliary files.
  • Cables in the MI & Tev are recorded in these databases; details are recorded in the links on this page.
  • A Cable Request Form must be filled out for cable installation approval and obtaining labels. It ensures that crucial information is stored in the databases.

PROCESS:

  • The person in charge of the specific system, i.e. Main Injector, Tevatron etc., is responsible for filling out the Cable Request Form for the cables they need pulled. This form is to be sent via email to Installation Manager (IM) Jim Ranson, George Krafczyk, and Database Manager (DBM) Evelyn Aponte. For your convienience a pre-addressed e-mail is supplied in Contact Personnel.
  • All questions are welcome. Hand-filled forms are accepted, but we prefer electronic transmission. If you are turning in a hard copy go to Contact Personnel for drop off locations.
Cable installation approvals and Cable labels are obtained by completing and submitting a Cable Request Form. Options are as follows:
  1. The Cable Label Assistance provides detailed instructions and graphics as well as all needed information for completing your form.
  2. The Web Interface provides all necessary materials from your choice of Cable Databases and their auxiliary files.
  3. One may use the quick links supplied at the top of this page.

NOTES:

  1. One can access the needed files in Excel Format even when the mirror server is down. See... "HOW TO FILL OUT YOUR FORM".
  2. The Mirror Cable Database file folder can be accessed via either browser Netscape, or Explorer, without the need for personal copies of the database software.
  3. However to access The Primary Cable Database shared file folder maintained locally on the Beams Division server it is necessary to have File Maker Pro 4.0 and Microsoft Excel installed on ones computer, also, it can only be viewed with Internet Explorer.
  4. For further information on this see the "Hub-Introduction".
