USGS/U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Joint Development Project

Research Task: RB00CMH.3.0
Task Manager: Michele Banowetz

Department of the Interior staff need technologies and tools to integrate, analyze, visualize, and apply ecological information to natural resource issues. However, the rapid rate of technology advancement and increasingly complex security issues present major costs and challenges to meeting this need. This task aims to help meet this need and work through these challenges by establishing a unique partnership by which USGS and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) can develop and support state-of-the-art Web applications. The USGS Fort Collins Science Center and the FWS have established an Intragovernmental Agreement through which they can share costs and resources associated with the development and support of Web applications. By sharing resources such as staff, hardware, and software, as well as ideas and technical accomplishments, FORT and FWS can develop information technologies and tools more cost effectively and efficiently.
