Caregiver Support

The Detroit VA Medical Center offers assistance to Veteran caregivers. Caregivers provide a valuable service for Veterans and are considered “partners” with VA in providing excellent healthcare.

Extended Care and Rehabilitation

The geriatrics, extended care and rehabilitation program provides a dynamic array of inpatient and outpatient geriatric, rehabilitation and specialty care services.

HIV/AIDS Management

The HIV/AIDS program staff at the Detroit VA Medical Center is committed to providing optimal medical care toward achieving a high quality of life to our Veterans. 

Mental Health

The mental health program provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being.

OEF/OIF Program

Our team is ready to introduce our newest Veterans to a variety of comprehensive services and progams available at our medical center.

Palliative Care


Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness.

Pharmacy

The pharmacy at the Detroit VA Medical Center processes nearly 4,000 prescriptions daily. Prescriptions may be refilled by mail, phone, or online.

Polytrauma Clinic

The Detroit VAMC has been identified as one of 3 sites in VISN 11 to establish a Level III Polytrauma Clinic.  This is an outpatient clinic designed to evaluate and manage the care of Veterans who have sustained multiple injuries (both physical and psychosocial) while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and/or Operation Enduring Freedom.

Primary Care

The primary care program offers an extensive range of treatments with an emphasis on health care prevention.

Research

The Research and Development program at the Detroit VA Medical Center enhances our ability to provide state-of-the-art medical techniques and treatments to Veterans.

Sleep Disorders Center

The Detroit VA Medical Center Sleep Disorder Center has a 12-bed sleep laboratory. An American Academy of Sleep Medicine accredited sleep lab, this lab was the first accredited lab in the VA medical system. 

Social Work

Social work is an integral part of Veteran health care. The social work program assists Veterans with counseling and community services.

Specialty Care

The specialty care program offers a wide variety of care. By involving the patient in the decision-making process for select procedures, we make the patient an equal partner in successful outcomes.

Spinal Cord Injury

The spinal cord injury program provides comprehensive care to patients who have suffered spinal cord injuries, including surgery and rehabilitation.

Surgical Care

The surgery program provides high quality surgical care for our Veterans, utilizing the latest research and state-of-the-art equipment.

Women's Health

The Women Veterans Health Program includes a number of clinical services for women, including gynecology, mammography, reproductive care and menopause treatment.
