Second Annual Childhood Cancer Summit

Please join the House Childhood Cancer Caucus for its 2nd Annual Childhood Cancer Summit on September 23, 2011 on Capitol Hill.  The focus of this year's Summit is a panel discussion on “The Future of Childhood Cancer Drug Development,” which will address the current state of drug development, access to clinical trials and the changes which could spur progress in these fields.  Actor Dennis Quaid will also be delivering a message during this year's Summit.

This year’s panel, will include:

  • Dr. Peter Adamson, Chair of Children’s Oncology Group (COG)
  • Dr. Ron Portman, Pediatric Lead for Bristol Myer Squibbs (BMS) and Chair of BIO’s Pediatric Drug Development Committee
  • Dr. Eugenie Kleinerman, Head of the Division of Pediatrics at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
  • Nancy Goodman, Executive Director of Kids V Cancer

The Summit is critical to raising the awareness level of Members of Congress and their staff about this important issue.  Strongly backed by  many childhood cancer organizations and the pharmaceutical industry, this event is also supported by Dennis Quaid who has called for “pharmaceutical companies to come to the table and partner with the public sector in support of patients and survivors whose life spans are cut short without appropriate treatment.”
