Immigrant visa and fiancé(e) visa are processed by the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh city.

Holidays Schedule

The embassy is closed on Vietnamese and U.S. holidays.

We receive visa applicants only with an appointment. Thank you for your cooperation.

New Year 2013 Holiday Schedule

The U.S. Embassy Hanoi Consular Section will be closed on the following Vietnamese and U.S. holidays around the New Year:

Tuesday, December 25, 2012: Christmas Day
Tuesday, January 1, 2012: New Year Day
Monday, January 21, 2013: Martin Luther King’s Birthday
Monday, February 11, 2013 through Friday, February 15, 2013: Lunar New Year Festival “Tet”
Monday, February 18, 2013: Presidents’ Day

During the long holidays of Tet, to ensure sufficient time to process and return passports back to applicants before Tet, you MUST submit your renewal package to EMS no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1st. Any application that cannot be completed will be returned before the Embassy closes for Tet and the applicant will need to resubmit. We are not able to hold passports over the holidays.

Committing visa fraud or providing false information on your petition, visa application or to a Consular Officer may result in the revocation of your petition and/or a permanent ineligibility to travel, work or immigrate to the United States.

The U.S. Embassy does not endorse or have a "special relationship" with any individual or business that offers advice or assistance with the visa process. No one can guarantee the issuance of a visa to you. Visa eligibility can only be determined at the time of the visa interview. All U.S. government forms are free.

Beware: many visa applicants lose money or are permanently barred from the United States as a result of providing inaccurate information or using fraudulent applications provided by visa consultants.

Reporting a Fraud

The Embassy treats allegations of fraud or malfeasance in visa processing very seriously. The information you provide to our office will remain confidential and will only be seen by Consular Officers and other U.S. Government employees working on a person’s visa case. We ask that you be honest and as concise in your statement as possible. If you have specific information about an incident of fraud or malfeasance, please contact us.
