NOTICE TO AMERICAN CITIZENS

The U.S. Embassy in Skopje has moved into its new embassy compound, located at “Samoilova” Street, No. 21, 1000 Skopje.  The new telephone number is +389 2 310-2000; Fax: +389 2 310-2299. As of April 29, 2009, all consular services will be provided at the new Embassy location.

If you need immediate assistance after normal working hours because of the death, disappearance, or destitution of an American citizen, please call +381 38 5959-3000 and ask for the after hours duty officer.

The U.S. Embassy Pristina is staffed only to provide a limited range of consular services to U.S. Citizens or other residents of Kosovo.  The U.S. Embassy Skopje, Macedonia, is the Department of State designated venue for most consular services to citizens of Republic of Kosovo.

The U.S. Embassy Pristina generally cannot assist consular clients in entering Macedonia.

U.S. citizens in Kosovo are encouraged to register with the U.S. Embassy Pristina Consular Section for possible emergency notification.  The Embassy will respond to the most serious U.S. citizen emergencies including arrests and life-threatening emergencies.  Such emergencies can be reported 24 hours a day.

For Americans living, working, or traveling to Kosovo consular services are available by appointment only. You may send a written inquiry anytime via e-mail to consularpristina@state.gov or fax (038) 548-614, and we will make every attempt to reply within one business day.  Telephone inquiries to (038) 5959-3119, can be made weekdays, from 8:00 until 17:00.

For travel involving emergency replacement of a lost or stolen U.S. passport, the U.S. Embassy Pristina may facilitate travel by the applicant to the U.S. Embassy Skopje, Macedonia.

Non-emergency applications such as replacement of an expiring passport, lost/stolen passport, adding pages or amending current passports, submitting documentation to register the birth of an American child overseas, notary services and consulting with consular personnel on a variety of matters are available in Pristina by appointment only.

If you need a consular service and cannot wait for the consular officer to travel to Pristina, you will need to schedule an appointment in Skopje via the Internet through the U.S. Embassy Skopje website http://macedonia.usembassy.gov/, or by phone +389-2-310-2000, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 12:00 noon, except on official Macedonian and U.S. holidays.
