Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy, Pristina, Kosovo

Kelly Degnan has served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy Pristina in Kosovo since July, 2012. She came to Kosovo from the U.S. Mission to NATO in Brussels, where she was the Political Advisor for three years.


Since joining the U.S. State Department in 1993, Ms. Degnan has served overseas in eastern Afghanistan, Turkey, Italy, Botswana, and Peshawar, Pakistan. During her two tours in Washington, she was first Special Assistant to Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and later Special Assistant to the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs.
Ms. Degnan practiced law in California and Micronesia for eight years before joining the State Department. She holds an undergraduate degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
