Cultural Programs
 

The Cultural Affairs Office of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy works closely with a wide range of Malaysian public and private organizations to encourage broader understanding of the United States and its relationship with Malaysia through a variety of cultural programs. 

Speaker Programs: The U.S. Embassy brings a number of visiting American speakers to talk on topics and issues of mutual interest to Malaysian audiences.  Among the topics are U.S. Foreign Policy, U.S. Economic Policy, Counterterrorism, Democracy and Human Rights, Global Climate Change, and U.S. Society, Culture and Values.  Video conferencing can also be arranged between speakers and Malaysian audiences.  Embassy officers are also available to speak at Malaysian institutions.

Performing Arts Programs: From time to time, the U.S. Embassy brings American artistes to perform for Malaysian audiences.  Among the performing arts programs are jazz, string quartets, dance and the U.S. Air Force and Navy bands.   

Art in the Embassies: Established by the United States Department of State in 1964, the Art in Embassies Program is a global museum that exhibits original works of art by U.S. citizens in the public rooms of approximately 180 American diplomatic residences worldwide.

Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation: Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation is the only program in the U.S. Government that provides direct small grant support to heritage preservation in developing countries.  The program was established by the U.S. Congress in 2001 with US$1 million, and to date has supported 437 projects worldwide, totaling more thatn US$11 million.
