The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy provides services to U.S. citizens Monday through Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Embassy is closed on certain Nepalese and American holidays.

In order to better serve U.S. citizens in Nepal, the U.S. Embassy’s Consular Section is open by appointment only for all non-emergency services. Appointments can be made online by clicking here.

Please Note: We are not able to make appointments over the telephone, you must use the online system. Once you have made your appointment with the Consular Section, please bring your appointment confirmation printout with you to the Embassy on the day of your appointment.
    
Americans requiring emergency assistance may contact the Embassy at any time. After normal business hours, emergency assistance is available by calling (+977-1) 400-7266 or 400-7269.

The Embassy is located in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, just south of the Narayan Chowk intersection with Ring Road. The entrance to the Consular Section is to the left of the main entrance.

Please note: Mobile phones and other electronic devices are not permitted inside the Embassy.  If you are carrying your phone with you, you will be required to leave it in a separate area of the Embassy.

The Consular Section will accept payment by credit cards issued from a recognized Bank or Credit Card Service Provider for American Citizen Services (ACS) fees.  Credit card acceptance will be provided ONLY for American Citizen Services.
