Welcome to the Non-Immigrant Visa Section of the U.S. Embassy in Maseru.

This Section provides visa services to persons willing to enter temporarily the United States of America for business or pleasure.

How To Apply

All non-immigrant visa applicants will be required to complete the new electronic visa application form DS-160. Upon completion of the required information, the form will be electronically transmitted, generating a biographical confirmation page that must be printed and submitted at the time of the visa interview.  Please note that it is necessary for all visa applicants to have the DS-160 biographical confirmation page at the time of the scheduled visa interview.

Photo Requirement

Applicants must bring one photo with them to their interview. Photo specifications are very exact. Photo requirements

Schedule Your Interview

A personal interview by appointment is required for most non-immigrant visa applicants. Schedule an interview.

Please apply well in advance of your travel date. Embassy Maseru processes visa applications on Tuesdays only. Do not purchase plane tickets until you have received your visa. Visa applicants should never assume their application will be automatically approved.

Additional Information

Once you start the on-line form DS-160, save your work often because the application will time out (close) approximately every 20 minutes. Save it to your computer or a disk where you can retrieve it. The form can take as long as 90 minutes to complete.

All information must be completed in English.

Please follow the instructions carefully and verify all information for accuracy.  Any mistakes will require you to complete a new application form and schedule a new appointment.  Ensure you have entered the full passport number, including letters, if any.

The applicant must print the confirmation page that includes biographical information and a bar code confirmation number.  Applicants must bring the DS-160 confirmation page to the interview.

Application Fee

When you arrive at the Embassy to apply for a nonimmigrant visa, you must pay a non-refundable application fee. 

The rate for January, 2013 is $1.00 = M/R8.90

Application fee for a visa is $160.00 = M/R1,400.00

The application fee is payable in cash to the consular cashier at the time of your visa interview appointment.

Please note this fee is non-refundable even if your visa application is denied.

Visa Processing Interviews: Tuesdays 08:00am and 02:00pm, by appointment only.

Note: Applicants who have completed their applications incorrectly, or are without the confirmation page, valid passport or do not have the appropriate fee will have to reschedule their interview.
