General Information
The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy Ashgabat adjudicates Immigrant visas to residents and citizens of Turkmenistan seeking permanent residence in the United States, based on certain categories of family relationship with U. S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents, or offers of employment.
Important information Regarding USCIS Immigrant Fee
Effective February 1, 2013, all individuals issued immigrant visas overseas must pay a $165.00 USCIS Immigrant Fee before traveling to the United States. Only prospective adoptive parents whose child(ren) is/are entering the United States under either the Orphan or Hague Process, Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants who were employed by the U.S. government, returning residents, and those issued K visas are exempt from the new fee. After the immigrant petition has been approved (excluding DV applicants) by USCIS, then the next step is preliminary processing for a visa with the Department of State, National Visa Center.
Consular Section of the US Embassy Ashgabat accepts immigrant visa petitions filed only by American citizens resident in Turkmenistan on behalf of their relatives. Please contact the Consular Section for an appointment.
