Anne Hall

Anne Hall assumed her duties as Chargé d'Affaires, ad interim, at the U.S. Embassy in Vilnius on September 15th, 2012.  Prior to that, she served as Deputy Chief of Mission from September 1st, 2010.

She is a career member of the Foreign Service with the rank of Counselor.  She joined the Foreign Service in 1987.

From 2006-2009 Ms. Hall was Principal Officer of the American Consulate General in Krakow, Poland.  During her tenure she led extensive public outreach programs, reaching audiences from Poland’s borders with Germany to Ukraine.  Reaching eastward, the Consulate also brought dozens of Ukrainian journalists into southern Poland several times a year for training with their Polish counterparts.

From 2003-2005 Ms. Hall served as the Senior Cyprus Country Officer, participating in negotiations leading to the short-lived United Nations settlement of the Cyprus problem in 2004.  From 2001-2003 Ms. Hall served in the European Bureau’s Office of Nordic and Baltic Affairs, during the run-up to the Baltic countries’ entrance into NATO and the European Union.

Ms. Hall held several staff positions in Washington, including as Special Assistant to Secretary of State Warren Christopher, in the Office of Executive Secretary Mark Grossman, and as Special Assistant to Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Maura Harty.  She also served overseas in China, Brazil and Colombia. 

She is the recipient of several Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards.  In July 2009 the President of Poland decorated her with the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.  She was the first American Consul General to receive that honor.  She speaks Lithuanian, Polish, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese.
