The Public Affairs Section issues Consulate press releases and the Public Affairs Officer serves as the official spokesperson for the Consulate. Education is a main priority of the Public Affairs Section which conducts school outreach programs on education, exchange, and available scholarship throughout the twelve province district and works closely with the Regional English Language Office at the Embassy in Jakarta on English teaching activities. The Public Affairs Section also works with the Information Resource Center (IRC) in Jakarta, a sophisticated state-of-the-art research and information service, housed within the Public Affairs Section building on the Jakarta Embassy compound as well as manages the eleven American Corners throughout Indonesia.
