Applying for a U.S. Passport

Passport issuances in Abuja and Lagos are done by appointment only. Please schedule your appointment here.

Abuja: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=ABU&appcode=1

Lagos: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=LGS&appcode=1

This includes the replacement of a stolen or damaged passport, or a passport renewal.  If you are applying for more than one family member, each member must have his or her own appointment.  Forms are available on-line at passport services, from the Embassy in Abuja or Consulate General in Lagos.

Please note the following:
U.S. government (available at the Consulate in Lagos or Embassy in Abuja) or U.S.-based notaries are strongly encouraged.   Documents notarized by a notary in Nigeria, besides that of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General, are not accepted. All other notaries will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

For a child’s first or second passport renewal, progress photos chronologically depicting the child’s physical development since the previous issuance is strongly recommended.

In Abuja and Lagos additional passport pages require an appointment.  Please schedule an appointment here.

Abuja: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=ABU&appcode=1

 Lagos: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=LGS&appcode=1

If your passport has expired or is about to, we strongly recommend that you take action now to renew your passport.  It takes approximately 2 weeks to receive a new passport once the application is approved. Consulates and Embassies do not offer expedited passport services.
