State Department Regional English Language Chief Visits Turkmenistan for Cooperative Talks and Book Donations

Ashgabat, April 20, 2012 – The U.S. State Department’s Regional English Language Officer Harold Samuels is visiting Turkmenistan from April 20-27, 2012.  Mr. Samuels will review U.S. sponsored English language programs in Turkmenistan with Turkmen educational officials and explore areas for possible future collaboration with the leadership of the Institute of International Relations (IIR), the Academy of Sciences and other educational and government institutions in Turkmenistan.

In addition, during his visit Mr. Samuels will participate in a Turkmen Government education conference from April 26-27 at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.  He will also participate in a book donation ceremony at the Turkmen Institute of International Relations on April 23, 2012, where Ambassador Robert Patterson will present English-language teaching and resource materials to the Institute’s library.
